Do you think they were advantaged by playing with the World Cup ball for 6 months beforehand? Several top players seem to have had trouble controlling it. they include Messi and Rooney, and the former has disappointed almost as much as the latter this contest, dont you think? Ther Germans limit the amount of foreign players allowed in the Bundesleague, and their season has a decent mid-term break. Are all these reasons why they nearly always excel at World Cups and England don't? I believe so.

its about time england started trying to bring through talent instead of chasing players from around the world, germany are playing exceptionally well and good on them for making homegrown players a priority.

As for the old "winter break" chesnut I bet you all the top clubs would jet off for lucrative friendlies the other side of the world during it.
We don't win because we aren't good enough and apart from 1966 never have been.
