Isn't there an age limit????

After all, a young heart is better than an old heart.
yes, been on it for years and was very proud when my 16 yr old daughter signed up earlier this year :o)
I have been on the organ donation list for yonks. Also on Anthony Nolan list. They thought I was a match once, but after further tests found I wasnt quite suitable. I was disappointed.
I don't think my knackered heart would be of any use to anyone. Or my liver, come to that. But I'm sure there are other parts of me that could do someone some good, if the worst happens :-(
My family know my wishes.
I am not on the register, I worked in a transplant unit for years and would not have wanted my organs going into some of the recipients I saw during my time there.... just because they were next on the list... Most were perfectly normal, decent people but lets just say one or two were not...
I have made up a card that says no organ donation and it also says I would not accept a transplant either....
I admire the families who say yes at such a difficult time but I saw too much to feel personally comfortable with it as well as having body image problems in the past I probably wouldn't handle the side effects of the anti rejection drugs or having more major scars if I had a transplant myself.
They don't know it , but I have put all my kids and grandchildren on the Transplant Donor List with the rider to "harvest" whenever necessary even if they are still alive.
I am on the organ donor register and have been for years.
I do hate the attitude displayed by some that it is some sort of crime to not be on it though... the same goes for being a blood donor. It is entirely up to an individual whether they choose to donate and none of us has the right to judge those who aren't on it.
Doner? Kebab?
Yes I am on the list, it is so easy to do online.
I am on the list, as are my husband and 14 year old daughter. My husband has had 2 kidney transplants over the years thanks to others who have made the decision to donate, something we could never express our true gratitude for.
I was made to join when I had surgery if I am honest.
I personally think it should be like America and have the opt put system. I think a lot of people are not on the list because they haven't got around to it etc... If they had to opt out people who felt strongly enough would indeed opt out.
