My nephew was in my house last week doing a bit of plumbing work for me and he and I got talking about televisions.

He was saying that his mate has a TV that is phenomenal. He could not explain too well. But said that when his friend put a DVD into the TV eg "Toy Shop" the characters nearly came out of the TV. I have asked him to get the name of this TV but he keeps on forgetting.

Anybody know what he is on about.

Suspect he's on about "toy story"

But guessing that's not what you are asking :)

I would doubt he has a 3D tv as they are still very new and hugely expensive, so he probably has a standard LED tv (which are basically LCD screens but use LEDs for the backlights instead of tubes)

what kind of a television should I be looking for then. and thanks for your answer
The type where everything seems to 'jump' out of the screen and fly across the room. If I was you I would hide behind the Sofa Connemmara !

i sorta googled 3d televisions there - and whilst did not read thoroughly - it seems in order to get a better advantage - do you need to wear glasses to get the full effect. (I would not want that)

I probably would Redman as I live on my own and would spend my time behind the sofa if it was that scary woooooooooooooooooooooooooo
If money is no problem Connemmara, go for the latest technology i.e 3D TV's or even LED, the choice is out there.......
I wouldn't bother with a 3d telly yet. There's no standard and it will end up like the Betmax v VHS war of the eighties.
There's some info here about Sony 3D TV's

And lets not forget that he probably played the DVD through a Blu ray player to get the best effect
Yes, he almost certainly has a HD plasma or LCD and played a blu ray dvd through his blu ray player.
Pedantic here, but.....

They are blu ray disks, not blu ray DVD's

Calling them blu ray DVD's would be like calling a normal DVD a DVD CD.
