I received two identical orders from a website and have only been charged for one.
Regardless of the law etc, would you tell them?

There's no way I could return it by post, it's too heavy to send by normal mail and I'm not paying to return something that was sent due to their mistake!
Is the order reference number the same on both, if so, you should have no problems. Also, did you sign for them on separate occasions? If so, I would keep it for a period of time (28 days) before doing anything with it, as this is a realisation period of time where the buyer/seller can legally amend their mistake and claim what is rightfully theirs. If nothing, possesion is 9/10 of the law.
PS: I am a mail order manager, so hope it was not my Co.
I ordered a pair of boots once from Argos clothes thingy, waited a week then went to collect them and they had sent the wrong ones, had to send them back, wait another week, and the second time I went to collect them, they had sent 2 pairs of boots. I said to the young guy at the till, while shamelessly fluttering my eyelashes at him that "surely I could just keep both pairs and just pay for one, do you want to have to go to all the trouble of filling in forms and sending them back hhmmm?" So he said sure take them, hurrah 2 pairs of boots for the price of one!!
Anyway, sorry about the rambling, my point is, no I wouldnt tell them, keep what they send and be damned! lol

apparantly I have heard that you can inform them that you will be leaving the item outside for them to collect and if they don't after 28 days i think - the item is legally yours. Chances are with these big companies, the people in the call centres really don't give a toss and just say yeah ok we will get someone to collect it
I once bought some pc memory and things from DABS, I bought it online.. when I went to check my order it wasn't there, so I thought my order hadn't gone through due to some pc or isp error, so ordered the stuff again.. Both lots camee through which I had to pay for.. when I told them they said I'd have to send it back at my expense for a refund, etc.. so i kept the other memory as apares.
Years ago I put a note out "no milk today" and they left a pint of milk, I phoned and told them.. expecting them to say, OK, keep it you, will not be charged.. instead they sent a van out to collect it.. How mean can ppl get ?
