Cant believe the parents let their 14 year old girl and her friend let them drink booze in the bedroom, there was a bottle of Vodka on her dressing table!

I seem to remember drinking a fair amount of alcohol at my 14th birthday party, and at the 14th birthday parties of friends, back in the 1960s. So teenagers having access to alcohol is nothing new!

However, having been a teacher, parents attitudes to their teenage children have long ceased to surprise me. One of of our 14-year-old pupils left home one Thursday morning but failed to turn up for school and then failed to arrive home. As you might expect, his parents phoned the police to report him missing. When did they do so? On the following Tuesday!

It wasn't a party Buenchico, they were just on-line in chat rooms to boys.
No special occasion.
It was only lack of finance, rather than of parental consent, which prevented me and my friends from regularly consuming large amounts of alcohol back in the 1960s. Perhaps access to money might be one of the big differences now?

Further, back in the 1970s, one of the 14-year-old girls in my class had an abortion in the same week that her 15-year-old sister had her second abortion. (It was generally assumed, but unproven, that their older brother was responsible for all of the pregnancies). I'm not condoning under-age drinking or under-age sex but simply stating that that neither are new phenomena.

Yes I remember them days too Buenchico, there was a girl next door to me who got pregnant and disappeared for a few months and came back without it.

I never saw the heavy boozing though.
I recall the sex and booze (and *lots* of drugs) at school in the 70s, but hardly any pregnancies...
I have a couple of freinds kids (early teens) on my FB and they are mortified that "olds" are discussing their sex lifes- there's a whole lot of "gross" and "ewwws" going on, it's hysterical.
Bet they think they're the only people "doing it" too, eh, B00!?
lol yeah boxtops.

I remember when I told my then 16 year old I was pregnant. She was like "OH MYYYY GOD mum, that's disgusting"....heh!
My brother was born when my parents were 47 (that was quite old for child-bearing, 50 years ago) - Dad was highly amused when a neighbour (probably all of 30 himself) shook his hand and congratulated him for still being able to cut the mustard!
Mind you, i was the same at that age. Every teenagery (that a word?) thing I and my friends did I was convinced we were the first to do it. No way no how did folk as old as my mum and dad do those kind of things.
Your brother is 97 box? Wow - younger or elder?
Oh - just re-read & fully digested it. Soz - never was very good at maths...... :-(
I'll tell him that salla - means that for once in his life, he'd be older than me!! :-)
