Does any ABer wear these? e.g. http://www.visionexpr...in-store/innovations/

For the last 2 years I've been wearing varifocal lens glasses but now I've booked in for a contact lens test and, just in case they turn out to be what I require, I was wondering how these multifocal lenses work in practice - does everything appear sharp or do you have to get used to not looking directly at distant objects, or what?

There are many multifocal contact lenses on the market and what you have to understand is in 99% of people the will be a compromise of your vision to some degree. Either your distance or near vision will not be as good as your specs. If you approach them happy to accept a compromise then you have a higher chance of success.

The purevision multifocal is a lens that has been around a few years and there are alternatives including the proclear multifocals and the newer air optix multifocal. Personally I ha e found greater success with the proclear ones although they are actually more of an adapted multi lens.

Ultimately your success will depend on what you want them for (work or social use) and what level of vision you require for this.

Good luck , you never know until you try them.
My sister has them, bibble, and she finds them excellent, but as york says, each to their own.
(I could not get on with any contact lenses at all when I needed single distance lenses. I now have varifocal specs and I am really pleased with them.)

Thanks to both for your replies.

I did wear contacts in the early 1980s but the combination of my eyes and the types of lens available then meant I could only have them in for about 8 hrs at a time - quite inconvenient for everyday wear - and so I reverted to glasses after just a couple of months. But with the developments in lens technology over such a long time I thought I'd given them another try.
