we all know that when you visit a GP, the resulting notes are available for insurance / mortgage companies, etc, to see. if you see a doctor privately, can you avoid the notes not being made available like that?

If you go to a walk in clinic i think that can stay private. Definitely places like GUM clinics & family planning clinics don't share your notes.

Are you sure chirpy, that your notes are made available to insurances, banks etc?
It didn't use to be like that....

Normally your medical info can only be released with your permission although a solicitor may be able to obtain copies/originals for evidence. However if you make a false statement for insurance purposes e.g denying you have a heart condition to obtain life insurance then I believe there would be just cause to obtain the notes as a criminal act will be involved. A private consultation would be exactly the same
