Another word for tidying up?

Sometimes instead of saying "tidying up" I will say "reading up". Read pronounced as red, so "redding up". Anywho is this a real word in this context, or just something I picked up somewhere?

it is legit. I put tidying up into reverse dictionary, and one of the options is redd! Thats something new I have learnt today.

Thanks very much. Weirdly sometimes when texting I would have spelt it redding, or red up but never presumed that was the correct spelling. From now on I will know to use redd. Thanks again.
