I want to copy video from my computer to an external DVD writer. What will I need, would it be just an external DVD writer, or is it more complicated than that. Are there any other attachments I might require. Are there different types of writers? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Just the external DVD should do it. Assuming you are buying a new one, you should get software included which will allow you to make DVDs
Oh and some blank DVDs of course!
It depends what video format you have on the computer and what format of video you want to end up with on the eventual DVD. For example do you want a DVD that will work on a computer or a DVD player.

Thanks for answers. I would want to play it on a DVD. I see there are quite a lot of DVD writers on ebay, some of them quite cheap, would they be any good?
If you post a link to one you fancy, we can take a quick look for you.
Depending on version of windows you may need extra software to write to DVDs
