.... One of my personal favourites that I first heard on Answerbank:

"Doctor, Doctor, I feel like a pair of curtains..."

"That's the least of your problems, you've got AIDS!"

ummmm. you could´ve fooled me
whoops - sorry about that - need to engage brain.
The rule of almost every funny joke - feel free to test it out on any you know or hear - is that it takes a sharp left turn with the punch line, right away from the preceeding scenario is a line that is completely unexpected - hence the joke.

This fulfils that criteria perfectly - i think it's fabulous!
If it wasn't for blinds it would be curtains for all of us...........

Thanks Andy. This joke gets an amazing response when told in the right company at the right time. Of course you have to be sure that the audience knows the original joke or it is pointless.

that will be when told to p!ssheads when p1ssed then will it?
I'll get the Special Brew in..
I suppose a chap wouldn't need to worry about getting new curtains if he was seriously ill. Is that it, the point of the joke?
I agree ll_billym - I have chosen carefully the people to whom I have told the joke, and they have understood exactly what is funny, and laughed loud and long.

I do believe that telling jokes needs to be tailored to an audience - even if it's an audience of one.
and today, Andy, you were that audience!
you're getting close, sandyRoe.

Here's a hint: "trousers".
