We keep getting letters (first from a bank, then from two different debt collection agencies) addressed to our house, but to a person we have never heard of; we've been here six and a half years, the previous owners had been here ten and they've never heard of him either. The latest letter states that the agency has done a search for the person's new address, and have confirmed that he is living here! We ring up straight away each time and get the address taken off, but I wonder how many more people out there think he lives here? How can we get his name removed from the records?

Hi - I think you need to check the phone numbers to make sure they are not premium ones. Can't help with getting the name taken off your address, sorry.
You shouldn't be opening post addressed to someone else. Write "not at this address - return to sender" on the letter and drop it in the postbox.
I thought it was illegal to open someone else mail?

Not that anyone would know I suppose. I get hundreds of letters a year for people who I have never heard of as Bush says, they just go back in the box.
