In the previous two weeks of the reign of “King John” (aka rockfordill): setter of the MM Links, we have seen two sides of his personality as provider of both the Famine and the Feast (in terms of points scored). How will he shape up this week when I have asked him to tell us how he has spent his free time? As things currently stand, we have quite a few bright sparks leading a strong field ~ and remember that there are FIVE weeks in July in order to determine this month’s winner of the honour of setting the MM Links throughout the month of August.

Pauline, to be honest, this place is so insane I have trouble in the evening even what has happened in the morning here let alone last weekend.

As to the big party, feel free to arrive, drag me away and force feed me a pint of Phyllostan shandy and I might drag you into the fray for a bop when the band gets going!
Does that mean it's 'open nest' for the night Strix? You might end up with perch crashers!
Aren't you sure you wouldn't prefer to be here in my dungeon!!! :-))
Dustybun...I feel a need to get the bus out!!
Both, Pauline, and some just find a good spot and stay there while all the groups come through. I usually follow one group round in the morning and stay in one of the grandstands in the afternoon. Don't know what I'd do if I ever managed to get to the Open, though; probably be overwhelmed by the occasion and just dither!

Re King John: does anyone remember a poem from years back about the said monarch, which began 'John was a tyrant, John was a tartar, John put his name to agreat big Charter'? What stupid things come back to haunt us!
Unless there's a link in there somewhere with our King John tearinghair!

It's surprising how things come back to you though.
I find that sometimes listening to quiz programmes and an answer comes from the back of your mind.

Sounds like there's an art to golf spectating!
When I've gone down to Sandwich for the Open, I normally try to follow an interesting group for a while then go and sit in a grandstand until lunch time, visit the exhibitions in the tented village and have a few pints, then repeat again in the afternoon. Following the flight of golf balls is easiest if you are behind the player rather than trying to catch sight of it from the side. Some of the TV cameramen are marvellous at following the flight of the balls.
It all sounds very complicated to me..except the tented village for a drink!
Mind you...so did going to the races until Sarumite corrupted me! :-))
Well...am off to my pit now.
See you all bright and early!
Hope you all have a good weekend.
Good night Pauline, sleep tight and good luck with the links, although you won't see me bright and early (unless it's at 1.00 a.m.)!
Good evening, all.
Tired as I am after what seems like a very long day, it's still too hot to sleep here in East Kent. So I thought I'd pop in for a few minutes just to say hello. Please forgive my pyjamas!
The wedding went well. Buxted Park is a great venue and my new daughter-in-law looked $1m. I didn't feel able to stay for the meal, but at least I got there.
What's all this about golf? I can just about understand someone with nothing better to do wanting to play now and then - but to watch somebody else play, that's surely for the birds! I was once given a present of six lessons with the local pro: half way through the first lesson he looked me in the eye, and he said, rather sadly, "This is not for you, Sir, is it?" How right he was!
Hopefully more regularly in the snug - but not for the next couple of weeks due to an even more hectic work schedule than usual. So bad, virtual beer will be all that I have to sustain me.
Good to see Crofter's avatar - think I stayed there before the indor plumbing...
Best wishes to all,
BigMac
