It appears that the latest version is only available on VHS.  The 1971 version is available on DVD here:

the earlier verison is on dvd but many suppliers have it deleted form their current list s so you have to order it specially.

I have just discovered that the film was shown very recently on ITV3 as part of their 'book to flim' series. Other titles in the series are Goodnight Mr Tom, Lady Audley's Secret, The Railway Children & Wuthering Heights
So it may be worth contacting ITV and finding out if they intend showing the film or the series again and recording it for yourself.
