I say there are no 'currents' in a reservoir.. as basically it's just a huge puddle... however my friend and daughter disagree with me... who's correct..? (And the answer is me!!)

As there is an exit point for the water there must be a consistant flow of water in that direction the current created would be stronger near the exit but less so further out..
It would stagnate if it didn't move.

there will be minor currents near the surface from the wind and fairly strong currents near the outlet.

I suppose it really depends whether there is steady inflow and outflow of water - if so it'll create a current. But if it just fills up from rain, and flows out when someone opens a floodgate, I don't think that would really be a current.
I think it depends on size. I recently went on a guided tour of Lake Powell which has been created by a damn big dam on the Colorado. I asked if there was a current and the answer was no because the relatively small amount of water entering is immediately stopped by the vast quantity it meets. Likewise the outflow; any effect is very local.
