There is not usually one magic "cure all" solution to this sort of problem.
It may be hardware related, it may be software related, it may be a virus or malware problems so it is hard to give an answer.
Or is it in fact your BROADBAND that is running slow, which is giving the impression is is your computer running slow. Check your broadband speed and see if it is what you are paying for.
If the computer is a few years old it may be time to do a complete Windows re-install (but this may be a bit drastic for some people).
But as a minimum, defragment your hard disk, run "disk clean up", uninstall any programs you no longer use, and make sure you have plenty of room on your hard disk. That may help a little bit.
Maybe also empty your recycle bin and clear out your browser temporary internet files.
