Chatrooms

Ed - in view of comments about the banality of questions in Chatterbank, has any consideration been given to including a chatroom or 2 in CB? A lot of the everyday chitchat might go into there instead, and there would be no need to store anything other than caching the last few minutes worth of contributions.
If you take ICQ as a model then siderooms could be used within them for private dialogue/messages between individual ABers.
Or would this make AB too much of a social site rather than a Q&A site?

A chatroom would provide the opportunity for a live chat between CBers rather than having to wait for a reply to a posting - a lot of the threads in CB end up like a conversation between a small number of the regulars and a chatroom would provide a much responsive interface for them.

It is a nice idea bibble.
I think we'd like to do something like private/direct messages in the future.
I think encouraging the social element would be a nice way to retain "one-stoppers" - what do you think?
Would you want "friends" on here? i.e. the facebook model. Or maybe "followers" like on twitter?
I'm inclined to the latter - there is less social pressure on twitter.
What about "status updates" would that be worth it? Or just encourage attention-seeking?
Lots to think about!
