There sems to be a Maries River at Westphalia.

The Ruhr- a gigantic area of industrial towns and cities, heavily bombed during WW11, inc. Essen, Solingen, Dortmund. Arguably, the Krupp armaments factories were the principal targets. The 3 big dams (Mohne, Eder and Sorpe) of Dambusters fame, served areas of the Ruhr.

Surprisingly,unlike such areas of the UK, the Ruhr has some magnificent scenery.
