Good news for us but not so good for our kids/grandkids if its true. 1,800 feet so roughly a third of a mile? Would this seriously destroy the earth? Whats the speed of this thing and would it matter whether it hit ocean or land?
The Yukutan asteroid that contributed to the dinosaurs demise was about 10Km across but 600m would be a major impact. The Tuinguska asteroid would have been about 60m if that's what it was.
Not too bad in Siberia but imagine the Tsunami if it hit smack in the North Atlantic
At 600m in the Atlantic what size Tsunamis could we expect? Also what speeds do these things travel at, do some asteroids travel considerably faster than others in space or are size and whether they have been thrown towards us from a planets gravitational field?
