Mortgage compensation companies. Which one?
4 Answers
I'm considering claiming compensation for my endowment policy which is set for a shortfall. Has anyone had any experience of using these companies, and are there any good ones out there? Also how much should I be looking at paying for the service, as I have been looking at their charges and it seems to vary wildly between 15 and 50%!! Any comments would be very welcome. Thanks in advance, Teabag

I never even thought about claiming but I thought why not, he was on a commision of 12 1/2 % on a no win basis, so in the end I was quite happy about the outcome. Hope you have the same success as me.
My advice would be not to touch these companies with a barge pole as I have read of some real horror stories. The procedure to do it yourself is dead simple. You can obtain a 'how to complain' leaflet from your endowment provider or download one from the Financial Ombudsman's web site. As long as you have good grounds for complaint (again, the F.O. site explains this), it is a doddle. I successfully sued Abbey National and I have to say I'm not the most clued up person on earth but it was very straighforward. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
