It's taken me 2 hours to do a 30 minute round trip and the organisers couldn't give a broccoli how they disrupt people's lives! It;s all a money making thing and not even for charity as far as I can gather! Could be wrong, but it's been a nightmare, I've complained to the police the LA and the organisers and they couldn't give a flump
So the good people of Bolton get inconvenienced for a few hours on a Sunday. The good people of London will be inconvenienced from 27 July-12 Aug 2012 when the poxy Olympics are on with massive disruption because the precious IOC salad chefs are too important to use public transport but instead will have their own VIP lanes.
We had a few people moaning about the 10k run in Leeds for Jane Tomlinsons' charity. Some of the streets in Leeds City Centre were closed off one Sunday. The run is proving to be popular with everyone who wants to run in memory of someone who has died, or suffering from cancer. It's only one Sunday in the year and well advertised, but some people can't compromise, they want to go across Leeds no matter what.
There's not really much of a comparison with that race and this one I don't think, mainly because they literally closed a large village off for 6 hours without anyone living there realiseing the scale of the event and how disruptive it would be, there is 1 a road through the village and it was a no go! Several aggressive confrontations occurred apparently and the idiits on the bikes were like kamakaze pilots and blundered on regardless, the whole thing was ridiculous and the organisers have their heads up their arses,
