as a prev said it's been going on for donkeys years....in very old days they used to insert a small sachet of chicken bood (yes really) which would normally pop during vigourous errrrmmm honeymoon fun . if it's didn;t burst the girl would rupture it herself. anyway - although we see it as bad I can understand why a women (particularly if religion decreed virginity is a must) would be very scared to have her husband find out she wasn't a virgin....

The virgin obsession of Islam is just a manifestation of the paedophillic tendencies of their prophet. Mohammed (pox be upon him) clearly preferred the naivity his child bride over the more mature women he married. Much easier to control an inexperienced girl than a woman.

I guess he knew a lot about women having married twelve of them.
