Is it true, what was said on 'come dine with me' ? that if you take the little green shoots out of the garlic, your breath doesn't smell garlicy?

garlic breath doesn't bother me at all, i love garlic and if someones breath smells of it, it just means they've been eating garlic, to my mind it's not bad breath just garlic breath.
however, himself hates the stuff so in the main i've stopped using it, don't even buy garlic bread anymore. very occasionally, i'll put a couple of whole cloves into a roast veg as it doesn't seem to flavour it very much and i can eat the soft, cooked garlic.
