Our washing machine....a 5 year old Bosch, has suddenly started smelling very musty when you open the door and when it expels water (the outside drain in now in our conservatory). The washing when it comes out "clean" is not smelling quite right eith....again a little musty !!!

Any ideas ? is there some kind of filter i should look at or is the machine not emptying properly ? anything i should put through to clean it ?

Thanks in advance....i'm not the greatest washing machine mechanic by the way :-)

You could try putting a bootle of thick bleach into the machine and running it on the longest cycle. This has worked for me.

I had the same problem and came to the conclusion that the water wasn't hot enough. Try putting it on the hottest cycle with detergent but no clothes and see if that helps. Also try leaving the door open a bit when the machines not in use. good luck with it!
First of all remove your detergent tray ... get an old tooth brush and clean every nook and cranny where old detergent sticks.
Open up your door, and separate and inspect your rubber door seal ... lurking in the crevices you more than likely have spots of mould... once again give this a scrub with the toothbrush using mould remover, or some other cleaning agent.
Then remove your filter and see what you have trapped in there... there's usualy something in there, that you would rather not touch.
Clean it out an re-fit the filter.
Finaly put some soda crystals in the detergent tray and let the machine do a rinse cycle ... just follow the instructions on the packet.
