I take it you're quite young. Norman Vaughan was a comedian/compere who took over compering Sunday Night at the London Palladium from Bruce Forsyth in the sixties. He wasn't particularly funny and was mostly known for two catchphrases 'dodgy' and 'swinging'. He then had a long career advertising Cadbury's Roses.
