I presume you mean the old mediaeval castle in the town of Sand, in Kent ...

You can see the castle from the beach.

In 1945, after the war, an American serviceman, Buck Itanspade, was on the beach, and, seeing Sand Castle in the distance, tried to recreate it out of sand.

He then hit on the idea of selling buckets, moulded into the shape of Sand Castle.

They became hugely popular.

So popular, in fact, that just as the equipment for vacuuming your carpet is commonly known as a "Hoover" ...

... the equipment for moulding a replica of Sand Castle is known as a Buck Itanspade.
