Dodgy tap.........

My cold water tap in the bathroom has a lever handle and when turned to the normal stop position it still runs water and has to be turned even further to stop the water running, this has only started to happen any suggestions please?

The vast majority of lever taps are 1/4 turn taps ... in which case you dont have washers in the tap ... but ceramic cartridges.
If this is the case you would need to identify the make and model of the tap before you can order a replacement cartridge.
Every plumber I know winces when you say ..''1/4 turn taps''... and every one of them also says ''You will need new taps'' .
Unless they can clearly identify the tap it becomes a waste of time messing about ...
So if you do go down the replacement tap route... buy a specific make and record the model number.
....only two hours ago I walked away from this situation ... the customer thought I was having them on when I told them '' the only way out of it was to replace them''.

I was thinking of a type of quarter turn tap that I've fitted many times. It's a conversion kit. You simply take the shroud and valve off the tap, leave the body in place, and screw in the lever type valve. The ones I've fitted have had conventional tap washers.
I hope I haven't confused the issue :o)))

Yes .. agree ...

You just need to know if they 'are' ceramic valves or not!
If they are ceramic, you may have to use only the manufacturers parts .. or a proper replacement for them.
