Peugeot 306 W Reg - few issues!

Ok - first time I have used site for something like this!

I have just aquired a non running 306 1.4 petrol pug on a W REG. I have been given it by mum in law to try and make good and have a few issues for starters. I am no mechanic but have always had a crack of things myself where possible. This is a sort of project for me which will become a 2nd car for the family once fixed but no rush in the meantime!

1. I can get it going after a long charge using my Galaxy but once I turn engine off the thing is dead again and wont start on its own. The battery was put in last winter by someone else (new).

2. There is an obvious petrol leak coming from what I believe is an injector (black plastic item attached to what I believe is fuel rail) - this injector is one of four that enter the back of manifold. Does this injector need changing or is there a fix?

3. The air con / blower wont come on at all - I mean nothing! I have checked all fuses possible and no issues there.

Any help (no matter how obvious) on any of these issues would be greatly appreciated

still sounds like a battery issue it needs to be tested if it was new and i assume you only have there word for this, it should still be under guarantee unless its a real cheapo nasty one then that could explain it.
Hi mate ..

1. Battery knackered .. maybe a cheap one anyway ..
2. Usually a small O-ring seal where the rail connects to each injector. Probably cracked seal.
3. Check fan rotates ok and is not seized. Get A/C pressure checked and leak checked at Air Con specialist. They will advise you.
The starter motor needs between 9 to 91/2 volts to start the car. It sounds like the battery is not holding any charge. When the car is started the alternator takes over and charges the battery up to 141/2 to 15 volts.Next time you jump start, put a multi metre to check if the battery is being charged.Do check the voltage in the battery before trying to start it again, it might give you an indication were the problem lies
Perhaps the battery is just completely flat. I don't think just leaving it connectedto another car for a while will give it much of a recharge.

Take the battery out and connect it to a proper battery charger.

(Mind you, it does sound a bit of a dud)

Thanks for all advise people!

I need to tackle the issue of leaking petrol first (the o ring issue by the sounds) so will look at that and then look at battery/aircon.

Where would I get the o ring from - Peugot job is it?
Yes .. I would think so.
