going to birmingham

going on a date in birmingham this friday night. as it's a first date i can only think of one thing to do (on a first date) and that's go to a pub. Sad i know but it's a place to relax, and it's a public place though i don't want to get scutted or anything. i do know birmingham but can anyone suggest a nice pub to go?

or even an alternative to a pub?

BRAINWAVE ...

Symphony Hall (Centenary Square) probably has something classical .. nice on .. you can eat in area, and there are a couple of lovely pub/bars opposite on the canal towpath/develpoment area.
I have been there quite a bit. If I was meeting a lady in town, I would probably go there.

Some time ago saw Chemical Brothers in the square .. with fireworks/lasers and the Bolshoi Ballet was in the hall.
