hi, have definately to employ someone as a mother's help. can anyone help me with the legalities and where i can get advice about payslips/tax/ni payments for her?
i am paying her £7.50 an hour, for about 15-20 hours a week (variable) and not paying her during school holidays. With tax and NI, how much would that make gross i would be paying her? Where can i start. As it will only be for about 7 months, i dont really want to pay a company to sort it all out for me.
Thanks
You register with HMRC and they send you a CDROM with a piece of software that does the calculations each week (or month). You then send what is owed to HMRC monthly (or if the sums are small you can fix with them to do it quarterly). It doesn't produce payslips for the employees though.
At the end of each FY in April there is yet more admin to do, which ends up producing a P60 for the employee.
It isn't too bad when you get the hang of ittc t
