hi all,

just wanted to know if i am useing the 3 day diet, will it interfere with my metabolism in any negative way at all? on my 2nd round now after eating normal for 4 days, and i only intend to do it one more time, although i really did not cheat but never lost 10 pounds after the first 3 days! but did slim down. also wanted to know, does it make a difference in what order each individual meal is eaten, for e.g, coffee 1st, then grapfruit, then toast, then peanut butter? do they have to be in that order exactly?

thanx for all the help i recieve, crystal

Hi

This "diet" works by encouraging you to eat salty food, then drink diuretics such as coffee. Yes you will lose weight in the short term because your body is becoming dehydrated, and the minute you come off the diet, and rehydrate yourself, you will be back up to your normal weight.

So although it will have little or no effect on your metabolism, it is not good for your body as it is simply dehydrating it

I asked for details on a 3 day/crash diet recently as I also wanted a quick fix,but after reading all the replies, which basically said what chazza has just said,I decided it wasnt worth it as the weight would go straight back on,and so I am just eating healthily.long term now and I feel much better for it.x
Sorry Chazza but that's rubbish. I have done the three day diet several times and although I would agree that it's possibly not the healthiest way to go about losing weight it does not encourage you to eat salty foods and drink diuretics so that all you lose is water. It does work and as long as you don't overeat in between you do not put all the weight back on. Don't get me wrong I am not advocating the diet as the safest or healthiest way to go and I admit it's origin as a Heart Institute Diet is bogus. BUT it works for me. Makes me feel good. Stops me obsessing about food every day of my life and with the small portion sizes it promotes a healthy bowel (if you know what i mean ;-) )
Boykie, I don't think it makes a difference what order you eat the food in. I always eat the ice cream as soon as I get home from work and before the evening meal and I still lose weight.

thanx for all the help guys......
Cymbeline, look up the reviews of it on the net. Do you honestly thing it is possible to lose 10 pounds in 3 days without being dehydrated?
Chazza, I don't need to look up the reviews on the net, I have first hand experience. Have you actually done it? or do you believe everything you read? I think I am in a better position to know than you are. As I said in my previous posting I am not advocating the diet as healthy or safe but I am an intelligent woman and I know what dehydration is and I was not dehydrated. The diet instructs you to drink at least eight glasses of water a day.

Well then we must be talking about a different diet, as the one I'm talking about only says 4 glasses a day, as well as advising you to drink coffee and eat saltene crackers and peanut butter.

Apologies if we're talking at crossed purposes

Chazza, I apologise. I have read the links that you posted and feel more informed. You are right, the diet does seem to be high in salt although I wonder how this compares to an average diet. The diet I used was slightly different in that you could drink as much water as you wanted (amongst other small differences) and I felt great whilst on it and very happy with the results and I have not piled the weight back on but I accept that I may be an exception. Sorry if I appeared brusque (must be lunchtime) ;-)

It is recommended that you stick to meals exactly as they are laid out. And while some people have lost up to 10 pounds everyone is different and results can vary. Media URL: http://day-diets.com/category/3-day-diet/
