My husband has been nagging me for ages to buy Liver (yuk!) so today I bought some in Asda - does anyone know what I can do with it now, preferably to disguise it so my teenage son will eat it! Thanks

I always soak my liver in milk for about an hour, drain it and pat it dry. I then coat it in a little seasoned flour.I fry it in a little garlic olive oil and butter about 2 minutes each side. Once cooked I put it in the warming drawer and put a little wholegrain mustard and some red wine into the frying pan with the juices and reduce it down. Put the cooked liver with the crispy bacon in a serving dish and pour the red wine reduction over the liver, serve with minted new potatoes and asparagus (or a veg or 2 of your choice) You could serve some fried onions with it as well.
Hope it turns out well however you decide to cook it

I usually dust mine with seasoned flour, and flash fry it in a really hot pan Must be a hot pan other wise it will take too long to cook and be leathery. About 2 mins each side as Maizie said, so it is still pinkish inside. No need to rest it as it is not a muscle, so whatever else you're cooking with it, do the liver last.
Ox liver is beautiful braised in the oven and a lot cheaper than lambs liver.

Like others, we rinse the liver, dust it heavily with salt, pepper (lots of pepper, thank you) and flour. Fry it to brown on both sides in a good olive oil, maybe 3 to 4 minutes a side (preferably in a heavy cast iron skillet), then, having thickly sliced two... no make that three onions, place the onions on the liver steaks (about 1/2 inch thick) and cover with a skillet lid so it'll steam for about 5 minutes or until the onions are good and translucent... The cover should fit right down on the liver, not on the top of the skillet so the lid should be smaller than the skillet....
