combi not igniting

Is it a coincedance that B/Gas have dug up outside my home to renew metal pipework that my 2yr old Worcester boiler has stopped igniting intermittantly. Is there any way they could have affected the flow rate?.

possible its the thermal coupling . this is a device you see in the flame which acts as a safety device so if the gas goes off it cut tha applaince off  and it must be manually started

Transco would be digging up, they're a seperate company. BG only supply energy and fix boilers!

I would have thought Transco would have ensured the pressure was the same as before they started? May be given em a bell and ask? Other wise check to see if your boiler is still under guarantee as its new or get your installer or other corgi qualifed gas eng to take a look if you don't mind forking out.

it sounds like a piece of dirt might of got into your gas line while british gas have been working on your gas main. if it a new boiler it wouldnt have a thermo coupling so it cant be that. if it is dirt you should get b/Gas to sort it out.

This used to happen to my old boiler & it was the thermal coupling as darkstar suggests. However I also now have a Worcester apparently (the Rolls Royce of boilers) So I would check out the Transco option if it's only 2 year old, isn't there something like a 10 year guarantee on these boilers? I can't remember exactly.

My problem in a bit more detail. When there is a demand for DHW or CH the fan fires up, pump turns on, pressure switch clicks over and the ignition fires but i,m in the lap of the gods if the pilot light ignites, if it does the boiler fires up no problem but obviously after 10 secs it does,nt light the pilot light the ignition will stop for safety reasons. I,ve taken on advice & asked Transco to check the gas flow rate at the boiler but they say its not there problem & i,ve checked my guarantee which only lasts a year.
