I've recently installed a Canon flatbed scanner but have difficulty with the settings. I can scan and print a document. The problem is with scanning a picture, how and where to save it.
A dialogue box tell me 'Link scanned images to' and has a 'Set' button beside it. Pressing the Set button displays 'Local Disk (C)', Documents and settings, Program files, Windows. I can navigate to a file or program, but don't know what to do then to make the link. The 'Link scanned images' dialogue box cannot be typed into. Can anyone help please?
I think the utility has a save and open setup. You can tell it a folder where to save or to open any suitable graphics program. eg Paint.
I generally open the graphics program first and use the TWAIN interface to scan into a new document. Just where you get to that depends on the program but it will be some menu entry like New, Scan or Create.
For pictures the Twain interface will open if you open many Photo software programmes .. and select Import .. from Scanner. When captured you save as .. to wherever you like.
Irfanview is good .. and free.
My Canon Scanner came with a program MP Navigator and this has worked excellently with everything I've asked the scanner to do. If you don't have this program, I would suggest you try and downlod it from Canon.B.
