Did anyone watch this programme the other night?
This supposed to be famous model (never heard of her) has a fantastic, well adjusted, intelligent and beautiful 14 year old daughter; she (the model) looks grotesque due to the amount of surgery she has had. The theme of the programme was that the mum wants her daughter to commence plastic surgery as soon as she is 16, with a boob job; and she wants her to become a glamour model!!
The daughter doesn't want surgery, she wants to study get a degree and then try acting.
Why on earth would a mother want to turn her beautiful daughter into a parody of a woman by forcing her to follow the same route as herself, when she is living with the results of all the 'work' she has had done to herself and can see how horendous she looks?
I'm amazed how well adjusted this young girl has turned out and can only assume it is because she is away at school most of the time, mixing with girls from 'normal' backgrounds.

Basically, her mother is a selfish cow.
I saw it.
Because she has little education herself and because looking 'beautiful' is the only form of success she has ever known. She is from a background that measures success only in terms of how popular you are and how much material wealth you have.

Whilst I pity the woman, I cannot dislike her. She doesn't come across as particularly ignorant or even opinionated. I certainly get the impression that she knows 'the business' very well. Moreover it's clear to see that she genuinely cares about her daughter and wants to give her the best she can. It's just that her lack of education has left her very blinkered when it comes to real life

Must admit though, I couldn't help thinking of Saffy & Edina in 'Ab Fab'.
You've never heard of Alicia Duvall? Wow!

Anyhow, I liked the young girl, yeah she did seem well adjusted for her age. However I wouldn't say Alicia was a bad mother, she was trying to steer her daughter into what she believed was the best way to lead your/her life. We have to bear in mind that it's all Alicia's ever known and her own upbringing left alot to be desired.

I thought the programme was well made and really showed that they have quite a lovely and touching bond between them.
She was a lovely girl - any reasonable mother would have been proud of her just the way she is
i watched a programme last year about celebs going into rehab for various things and she was one of them she was there because she was addicted to surgery, at the end of the programme it said she was over it, yeah looks like it
I am now looking up Alicia Duvall, who I have never heard of!
she mainly does reality programmes
No she doesn't 4get, she mainly "does" famous footballers ;-)
Wasn't she famous for having it away with John Terry? Felt sorry for her daughter, what a lovely girl.

It seemed to me that the roles had been reversed in this relationship with the mum begging to be 'allowed' to do stupid things and the daughter trying to show her mum how misguided she is, without hurting her feelings.
Yes, she did seem to love her daughter in a fashion but not enough to put her needs before her own wants. The daughter undoubtedly loves her mum and is extremely protective of her, at the moment. Don't know whether this will survive the next few years though if the mum keeps pushing her in a direction that she really doesn't want to go in.
Nail on head Maggot ..
Well said.

TBH .. The mother really wasn't glamorous .. was she?!
nice girl.. shame she had to pander to her very fragile mother.

I hope she doesn't end up as her full time carer.

Well I thought the mum looked like a spitting image character. I expect she had been good looking before all the surgery, lumpy facial filler, botox, face lift, etc.
I thought that the daughter seemed incredibly level-headed for 14, but felt quite sorry for the mother as obviously she measures success by wealth, and to be honest I thought that she's had so much plastic surgery that she didn't look particularly attractive any more; it can't be easy being a "glamour" model, as I imagine that there are always going to be younger and prettier girls hot on your heels, and what do you do afterwards? I can only think of a few topless models from the last decade or two that are known for their careers following on from topless.
