Has anybody tried to charge a Nokia 3510 or 3510i mobile phone via USB (either from desktop or laptop)? I have tried two leads (one cheap and one not so cheap) without success. My son used the cheap one with an adaptor on his very new/modern Siemens and it worked.

some Scanners & cameras have this problem too
they try to draw too much current and the voltage regs can't handle it..
don't worry doesn't damage your laptop. some times if there is more then 1 set of usb ports on a laptop 1 set is better then the other , otherwise you may have to but a small powered hub. however that does not help you out on the road...you could try a solar/windup charger or an "air battery" (disposable catalyst battery that lasts for about a month) for your phone

Thanks to all who tried to help. I've now found a source for a USB charger for Nokia phones that works! The company were good enough to answer an email query before buying (and promised a refund if it didn't work) and said that the device would work because it had been modified for Nokia's newer voltages. Very quick delivery and it works. It also comes with adapters for Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung and Siemens. Costs 8.99 plus postage from
