No audio device
5 Answers
Hi
I have just re-installed XP on my laptop because of viruses.
When I try to play music or have sound websites no sound comes out
I have been on sounds and devices and it says No audio device yet it was working before the re-install
Any suggestions?
Also my wireless card is not detected so I have to connect using a cable to my modem
is this part of the same problem
TIA

You may also need to install the wireless card drivers .. you should have on disc .. but can be downloaded also. Check in Device Manager for details of the card(s) if you do not know, or cannot physically check them.

While you are at it you probably want to also get at least the...
Chipset drivers
VGA (graphics) drivers
Network card (wired) drivers
Modem drivers (if fitted)
And also any others drivers for hardware your laptop may have fitted, such as bluetooth modules etc.
Check the device manager, you should have no red crosses or yellow exclamation marks at all.
