I have ants running out of my kitchen door frame,so I put some powder in the hole-OMG did I feel bad when the poor little things started falling out.I know they are pests and can spread nasties, but film makers who make films like Antz dont help me!
Anyone else feel the same,or does anyone know of something that the ants don't like that I can use to deter them instead of killing them?
Thanks anyone

The thing is, I don't think they do spread nasties.
They have their 'weddings' and that can look pretty extreme: I've seen thick stripes of them up kitchen walls, MILLIONS of them flying everywhere and it makes you go AAAAGHH ! But they're totally gone in a few hours.
sorry its ant-i-cide or live with ants....I use the ant bait things...less messy than the powder and safer if you have pets around
Ants only invade your kitchen if you have left morsels of food (ant size) lying around. Ants are pretty good at clearing up after us so let them get on withj it, they will leave when they have finished and their services are free.

Its just a pity that the ants think that the door frame is food.Oh well,if they are diesease free, live and let live!
The ants are probably just using your doorframe as a convenient unobstructed highway between their nest and a food source. If you obstruct their route in some way then they will quickly find another way, hopefully outside your house. Before some wag suggests a toll booth try something oily, WD40 might work and will eventually evaporate..
