Ancient Astronauts Theory

Not a question, but I've just watched a documentary on the History channel entitled 'Ancient Aliens'. For anyone who's interested in finding out more about this theory, this is not a bad place to start. The narrator is a little sensationalist and hence, irritating, but don't let that deter you. I don't when it's on again, but it's extremely interesting and worth looking out for.

If artefacts, documents, ancient monuments and structures are available to researchers and interested parties then that is absolutely brilliant.
I was merely trying to say that not everything is available and should be if it exists.
Why should certain people hide wonderful treasures? To give them power?
The truth of our origins have probably been known for thousands of years but if all we can come up with is a big bang theory then that is sad, unless the big bang theory is true of course:0)

I don't know anything about David Icke and by what you mentioned, I don't think I want to know anything. I don't like conspiracy theories and mystical mumbo-jumbo any more than you with regards to this subject matter. The truth is much more useful and rewarding for the investigative mind.
Like we agreed on your other thread, if we already knew everything and had everything we wanted then there would be no point in searching or asking for it.

Good morning Luna, I wasn't suggesting you did. I was simply saying that people who lump this subject into the same category as conspiracy theories, mysticism, etc, are in fact discouraging serious investigation.
As for whether the truth of our origins has been known for thousands of years, that sounds like another conspiracy theory to me - and the Big Bang is another issue entirely. It seems we have two options - Science or God - and I know which one I think is most likely - although as I said, that's a separate issue and one that is completely unrelated to what we're discussing here.
One thing I really can't understand is people's apparent lack of curiosity. I've posted images of an object and stone carvings that are thousands of years old, but that very clearly resemble modern aircraft - and no one has commented on them. Surely when people look at those pictures they must ask themselves what these things represent? Perhaps they ignore it because the answer that must automatically pop into their brain does not correspond with their preferred vision of earth's history, of science, or of religion. I find that most odd - and from those who claim to possess an enquiring mind and a scientific interest in our planet, rather disingenuous.

Perhaps the nice comfy, fluffy answers are easier to swallow for most people.
If so-and-so in the science world said, this is it, this is how it happened and no one questions it then maybe that sits well with most people. I find it very difficult to understand also why when something is staring them in the face they would rather go with the fake or hoax option.
That's almost as bad as a conspiracy theory, if not worse!

Naomi,
I didn't comment on the carvings of planes (yes, I agree with you, planes - no way do those carvings look like any kind of bird but they DO look like planes) because I think they fall into the same category as the things I mentioned in my post. Scientists ignore them because they don't fit into any current popular theory and they don't want to disturb the status quo. I find it all fascinating.

If you have an enquiring mind you should question everything, yes the scientists and their theories too, but also the theories of non-scientists. Many of the popular von daaniken type theorists conveniently forget the facts that disagree with them. There was a recent theory that the egyptian pyramids were copied from mayan pyramids or vice versa. This theory competely ignored the fact that both types of pyramid had a different geometry and that archaeologists had unearthed the separate historical development of both types. Most of these sensational theories ignore the obvious and that is that a bunch of determined people can over a few years with a bit of ingenuity and some hard work achieve a great deal.
