She died too suddenly, didn't she? One minute she was fine, the next she'd missed a smear test and then it was all downhill from there. The one good thing is hopefully it will encourage more women to go for smear tests but perhaps it is a misrepresentation of these cases. It would have been better to develop the story over a period of time to perhaps better reflect real-life situations. I'll miss Alma.
Didn't Amanda Barrie (Alma) herself question if it was just a ratings ploy? She did seem to have a particularly rapid decline which seemed a bit far-fetched to me. (Though if it was a ratings ploy - it did work. I don't usually watch Coronation Street, but I have seen at least two half-episodes since the storyline started)
I think that alma's death was done very well. OK, so it was quick from the time she was told and the time she died - but don't forget this is Soapland.
I think Alma's death was handled very well, and because it seemed so painless, it may well take away the fear of dying from this disease, for so many people.
