When you say the front lights work, what do you mean?  Which lights?  Side lights, dipped beam, main beam, fog lights?

The left side side-lights, tail lights and number plate light are fed via fuse 8 and the right side side-lights, tail lights and dashboard lights are fed via fuse 3.  Check these.  If none of your side/tail/number plate/dashboard lights are working its more than likely that the actual switch is damaged or dirty.

Being a combined switch unit it would be fairly expensive to replace it from a Ford dealer.  It is possibly to clean the switch contacts if you're confident you can take the unit apart and re-assemble it without damaging it.  The best bet is find an auto-breakers who have one they can sell to you on the cheap.
