Safe for women to hitchhike?

Do you think it's safe for a woman traveling alone to hitchhike? What if she only took rides from other women?

And stories/experiences/trips would be interesting and informative. :)

Uh, uh. Not illegal for a woman to hitch-hike alone, of course, but desperately unwise. Everybody is expected (esp. in law-courts) to avoid putting themselves in positions of jeopardy.  If you don't, and you are raped, are you sure you are not partially to blame ?  Women have rights, but at a price. That price is called Responsibility.  Abandon this and you have few rights that anyone would understand.

Trust women drivers ? No way. Any bad consequences will inevitably be blamed on a man who misguided her.

Student criminologists are regularly set such questions. The short answer is, 'avoid it like the plague'. Really.
