Can I get a foreing debtor to attend English court?

After two years of litigation, a year ago I won my case against an unscrupulous French car dealer for breach of consumer contract, English law and jurisdiction having been accepted by the defendant. When he failed to pay the CCJ, I had the judgement certified so that it could be recognised in a French court which was done in February. He has lodged an appeal, locally, against enforcement. Does this mean that I now cannot seize an asset of his in this country (under existing English jurisdiction)? Can I still ask the court in this country to call him to account?

Contact the courts that gave you judgement and ask what you can do next

i dont know how much youre prepared to pay out on this but its very difficult fighting anything over there.

The company i work for once took a french company to court following the supply of a macine that didnt work at all.
It took 3 years of hard fighting, going through all the courts there (the court was in the town where the machine was made and of course everyone knew everyone else, the defendnts even arranged dinner with the judge in the courtroom)
We eventually, by suing the finance company and UK agent, got the case heard in the High courts in London but we walked away with no costs from France and just the machine (that didnt work) in compensation.

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately a court will not provide advice, only refer you to a solicitor. Thanks for your interest but I'd be keen to hear from anyone legally qualified....?
