Bleeding from back passage...

I don't know all the details...

OH's Uncle was taken into hospital on Saturday with heavy bleeding from his back passage and severe abdominal pains. They are testing him for cancer of the bowel/colon.

Is there anything innocent it could be?

My main worry is/was being a typical Irishman he's of the type that is reluctant to go to the doctors for anything. This weekend his wife was away....and he took himself off without being nagged to. So it must have been pretty bad.

He's 58....and has always been quite a large man and in the last few weeks he's had dramatic weight loss. Not sure how much....I've only got the info his son gave me.

Someone I knew had a bleeding scare like this which turned out to be just piles and the pains were due to constipation. But as sqad says, it could be due to many things.
Hope all goes well- really you just need to wait and see.

piles would be the obvious; but they'll want to check for other causes, particularly because of the weight loss. Crohn's disease might be another possibility.

I'm sure they will Cazzzzz.....Knowing him though things would have had to be really bad for him to approach a Doctor. That's my only concern.

TBH...I don't want to sound bad but...I can't stand the man. I even hated him as a child. My concern is for his kids and ginger.

Although I really wouldn't wish any harm on him, or any suffering.
