For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.when i was in the army you could get restriction of privileges as a punishment,you had to perform certain duties under the direction of the orderly officer or sergeant ,you had to parade with the guard and then you would be told what you were required to do ,it was just trivial work designed to grind you down and regret doing what you had done to be in that position.i think ordinery soldiers called it jankers,also you had to be a the guardroom at 2200hrs in your best uniform to be inspected it did not matter how long you had spent getting ready as you always got picked up for something wrong with your hat,boots or the like .i think around the eighties there seemed to be a shift in disipline and to save time you would be given extra duties ,guard,driver,buglar,fire piquet. it saved the person who gave them to you having to bother putting you on orders and you having to go in front of the officer commanding to be punished ,you could refuse them and choose to go in front of the oc but it was not advisable as you would almost certainly get a worse punishment ,there was no such thing as sympathy or justice in the army .also you could get a punishment called confined to barracks ,where you had to stay in camp for a specified period of time.
