does anyone know of a credit card where you can buy stuff but you get money back on all purchases.  I have heard about them but don't know where to start.

Morgan Stanley have one and so do American Express Blue. Some will have introductory offers like giving you 2% cash back for a limited period or 2% up to purchases of �2000. It's worth doing if you make a lot of purchases with a card.
