Anybody know if young children would enjoy a day trip to Portmeirion, what exactly is there to do?? its looks great for a day visit on the website but not sure about kids....
My kids had a lovely day there, wandering about in the sunshine and eating a nice dinner. But then, we had just escaped from the Butlins down the road which made Colditz look like wall to wall luxury. It was more than ten years ago, I believe the butlins has changed hands since and is probably just fine.
In the sunshine it is a really prety location and I think kids are capable of responding to that for a certain amount of time. as i say, mine did.
Strangly I spent the afternoon there 2 days ago a beautiful place on a sunny day to wander about. Theres only really the beach for young children though and having said that there isn't a beach at high tide
My OH worked on the old Butlins at Pwthelli (sp) a couple of years back, it had been bought by a big firm and they were converting it into holiday homes, Butlins had left apparently.
Hi, I am from that neck of the woods, Portmeirion is a good place to visit, you are not too far from Snowdon & nearby the Electric Mountain, Beddgelert has a lot of history regards "Gellet" the sheep dog, you have Criccieth Castle, Harlech Castle, Barmouth is a good day out, and lastly Abersoch, the beach there is very good + eating places. If you have time try a visit to Caernarfon Castle.
