Stress Test interview..?
6 Answers
Hi. My husband had an interview yesterday which was really, really unpleasant. I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on whether this was a 'set up' - done in a ploy purely to test him in a stressful situation, or just a really bad interviewer!
If it IS a 'stress test' is this even accepted as a genuine way to interview people?
For example:
the interviewer had placed himself in front of a clock and kept deliberately turning all the way round to check it.
He rapped his fingers and played with his pen constantly.
He made really dismissive remarks such as "Well ANYONE can read stuff off our website!" when he was discussing (in a sensible way!) what he knew about the company.
He said things such as "Just because I'm saying this, don't expect to get a 2nd interview! I ask this to everyone!"
When he said "The 2nd interview will be really TOUGH! With tests!" My husband said "Fine... bring it on!"
Do you think this was deliberately done, or this guy is just a XXXX - for whom no-one would want to work!?

I have had pleasant interviews so far and people have made me feel really at ease as they should know you must be in a bad place. Only bad experience I had was when I saw a job advert for a place just over the road, yes I didnt have all the experience they asked for but I thought I'd go and hand my cv to them anyway. When I got there the bloke was eating an apple at a desk, I could have been a customer but he didnt stop eating and didnt ask me if I needed help. I went up and asked for 'Paul' and he said 'yep' I said I'd seen advert and he sarcastically said 'well no you want the other paul then, but have you any expereince in sales 'no', 'have you any experience in care' 'no' then he looked at me as if I was dumb and said 'so you just thought you'd come in anyway' and just sighed. What a pr1ck, at least I went in!!
