I've not got Freesat but I might eventually get it installed. Since I'm not interested in HD, the only reason would be the wider range of channels available:

I have just tried Freesat in a holiday let, on a Panasonic Freesat TV (not a seperate digibox).

HD was available on ITV and BBC HD Preview.

I compared ITV HD with normal ITV, and could see no difference. A total letdown.

sometimes depends what you watch, plus also if in a htel they probably didnt hav HD cables on the tv set. HD is great watching footie and nature programmes are amazing

If you happen to be in an area that has not yet gone digital. You can get freesat and you have then gone digital ahead of the rest.
I've got the Panasonic 42'' with integrated Freesat and Freeview... and analogue.
If you flick between ITV HD and analogue ITV ... you would really need to be blind, not to see the amazing difference.
The freeview picture still breaks up and gets blocky as we dont go digital until 2012. But the Freesat is an excellent picture ...

Thanx to you all perhaps I should have mentioned I dont have cable where I live and I dont want Sky, so it looks like more channels ...joy of joys...more of the same piled higher and deeper...lol

anyone whos says they cant see the difference between standard tv and high deff tv, has not high deff!!
go to a curry's lewis's or comet look at their hd tvs then come back here and tell me again there's no difference

I was switching between digital satellite ITV and digital satellite ITV HD on a Freesat TV with everything built in.

There was no question of watching analogue, not having the right leads, pictures breaking up or any of thethings you all mention.

There was no noticeable difference between the two

The BBC HD preview picture was excellent, but then so was the picture of all BBC channels.

In the tv shops they demonstrate high def by using blu ray. There is a huge difference between blu ray hd quality and tv hd quality.

And in answer to the question, normal hd ready tvs with built in freeview won't be able to pick up the freeview hd channels. You need a freeview hd receiver for that, and at present they are standard in new tvs. Another box to plug in to your tv.

Hi Chris, I clicked on the bottom of the freesat link to get large print & sure enough it downloaded it, however when I tried to print it off I got blank pages,do you know if there is a way to do this? Ron.

sorry hopkirk, was it a small tv, coz I can defo see the difference on a 42",
