Snap (apart from shipwrecks)!
Is he glued to the History channel like Mr O?
None of us get a look in with the telly - and don't get me started on re-runs of Dad's Army.....
I must admit though I really enjoyed our recent day out at Duxford. We used to live fairly close and I went 30+ years ago and then again this year. It has changed!! Mind you I was dragged around the renovations hanger, that was somewhat boring.
I am quite interested in modern history and the 2nd World War. But the mechanics of aircraft leave me cold. I can't even understand how they get off the ground and fly!!!
olive/ lofty.....my main interest was in Fighter Command and the Battle of Britain, but one day I was operating and my anaesthetist was reading the Telegraph and he read out an advert for a weekend tour of Bomber County in Woodhall Spa. I went with a mate and was so impressed that I returned again and filled a small coach load of colleagues from the hospital and we stayed at the Petwood Hotel Woodhall Spa which was the officers mess of 617 Dambuster sqadron. It was a fabulous weekend and it should be in the curriculum of all schools.
You would actually get on well with Mr LL Sqad!! I think he knows all the WW2 airfields off by heart. On any journey I am informed of the nearby airfields he has visited, especially when he was in his teens and in the ATC. His biggest wish was to join the airforce, but circumstances meant it wasn't possible.
