has anyone had one done recently? my letter says not to use public transport alone or have someone with me, from searching the net i was under the impression i would have to stay in hospital for at least an hour. i phoned the consultant and she said i'd be in and out in 10 mins and able to use the bus. she said i'd been sent an old copy of the letter! also, does it hurt? i'm a wimp! what should i expect to happen?
many thanks
My Uncle Maurice had one last week to investigate the cause of a low white cell count. He said it was uncomfortable, but not excruciating. Just don't look at the size of the needle and you'll be alright....
In my experience when Drs say 'uncomfortable' it means whatever they are going to do will hurt a lot. I always make a huge fuss whenever anyone starts to hurt me as I do not think they believe you unless you shout a lot. Grinning and bearing it with a slight sheen of sweat on your forehead gets you nowhere. Shouting and hollering sometimes gets them to give you some painkillers or at least to hurry up.
I think they should have to try out these investigations etc before ordering them up for others.....
Note to any Drs reading this...Saying that something will not hurt much when it does hurt (usually a lot) is not good for your credibility ...we will treat anything else you say with total scepticism....
I am also a wimp. (But you may have gathered that by now.)
